PORT-NET news bulletin 02/2010
After five, informative, productive and happy years, PORT-NET has closed its doors. The information potential built up will stay on-line on this web-page for quite some time as well as interested parties are invited to direct additional questions, inquiries etc. to the different institutions which had been involved in the project.

However, even more important, activities will be handed over to a "follow-up project" in the context of the EU Interreg IVC programme:

PORT INTEGRATION had been started with a "kick-off" meeting of partners in June 2010 and will run up to December 2012. The Official Opening conference "European Ports and EU Policies" will take place at Hamburg from 22nd to 24th September 2010. Invitations (incl. programme) will be sent to interested parties in due time, an own web-page (www.portintegration.eu) being published soon.

We thank all partners, supporters and friends of PORT-NET for the support they had given to us and the professional friendship we have experienced.

"Drushba" to all of you,

Hans-Ulrich Wolff, Silke Lorenzen

With pleasure we have to announce another Port-Net highlight, the very last one in a row of events since 2005:

WS02-22
"Kaliningrad, Most Western Russian Gateway
to EU"
Kaliningrad,
from 25th to 27th/ 28th May 2010

The programme will offer an excellent inside view of the Kaliningrad Port Complex, including Baltijsk and the 42 km Sea Channel.

Organization at our Russian Partner, ROSMORPORT Kaliningrad Branch (RKB), will be in the hands of

Mr Nikolay Mamenko
Head of Commercial Department
Phone: +7-4012-362197,
E-mail: mamenko@portkld.ru

He will arrange for the visa formalities, hotel reservations etc. Visa can be issued either for 72 hours directly at the airport, or, in case of a longer stay for the (recommended) optional programme, by the relevant embassies/ consulates in your countries based on individual invitations expressed by RKB. Please make your choice, in time, together with Mr Mamenko.
Last but not least it is recommended that you make your flight bookings as early as possible in order to safe money.

To approach Kaliningrad by air from EU, RigaInternationalAirport (www.airbaltic.com) can be used for transit. Alternatively it is possible to use PalangaAirport (LT) via Copenhagen or GdanskAirport (PL), however would need additional transfers by rail respectively road. Also St. Petersburg and Moscow could be used as Russian transit airports. Whatever your choice will be, PMT (address, see below) shall assist you to find your way.
